High Intensity NDIS Support

Complex NDIS CARE -
High Intensity NDIS Support refers to specialized care for participants with complex medical or physical needs that carry higher health risks. It is designed to ensure these individuals can live safely and independently at home and in the community.

High Intensity Support

Who needs high intensity support?

This level of support is for participants with extreme functional impairment or very high, complex support needs that require a high level of skill, training, or supervision to deliver safely.

High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA)

Specific tasks that require high-intensity support workers include:

  • Complex Bowel Care
  • Enteral Feeding (PEG or Nasogastric tube feeding)
  • Tracheostomy Management
  • Urinary Catheter Management
  • Ventilator Support
  • Severe Dysphagia Management (mealtime support)
  • Subcutaneous Injections (Diabetes management)
  • Complex Wound Care

High Intensity Support Funding

Higher Rate for Support Workers

The funding is allocated in the participant’s Core Supports budget (under ‘Assistance with Daily Life’) at a higher hourly rate than standard disability support.
This compensates providers for the cost of highly trained, often clinically-supervised staff.

Training and Oversight: It covers the support worker’s time to safely implement a participant’s detailed health and allied health support plan (which is developed by a qualified health practitioner, like a Registered Nurse or Allied Health professional).
