Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we take a moment to celebrate the progress women have made in their various spheres, advocating for gender equality, raising awareness, and reflecting on the steps taken towards women’s empowerment.
Not just the theory, not just the news cycle, instead facts on how women around the world embody strength, care, and courage in practical ways.
So, what is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day is a global day when society gathers to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political accomplishments of women, while advocating for gender equality. Once a movement supporting fair work conditions, voting rights, and equal pay, today, it is a day more about reflection, celebrating progress while recognizing the need for further change. It is also a day to raise awareness and drive action toward a more inclusive world.
On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements women have made in our community. It’s a celebration that is caring, courageous and seeks to empower all generations to take action and continue pushing for equality and inclusion.
We celebrate our women who lead with kindness. They lift others, take responsibility, and show up even when no one sees.
Women in Our Organization
More than 60% of our staff and participants are women. This is not just a number; it is a representation of who we are.Women are the support workers who start their days at 6 a.m., providing care with warmth and reassurance. They are the NDIS participants who face life with grit and determination. They are our leaders, our advocates, our moms, our daughters, our sisters, our friends.
Today is about the support worker who falls to her knee beside her participant and says, “You got this.” It is about the team leader who stays behind to make sure everyone has a voice. Today is about the mom who makes it all work with nary a sweat. Today is about the young woman who finds her voice and decides to use it and is recognised for her achievements.
International Women’s Day is a celebration of how change is created through individual actions, with women at the helm.
Why This Day Matters in Our Organization
This day is special for our community because we recognize and celebrate the substantial contributions women have made, and continue to make, to our NDIS participants.
Our community is the driving force behind supporting women living with disabilities to live satisfying lives and play essential roles in the workforce and their community.
Our International Women’s Day is also about celebrating women with disabilities who have forged their own paths in systems that weren’t made for them. We are contributing to gender equality by providing equal opportunities for all staff, regardless of their gender identity.
Women as PowerHouses
It’s not just International Women’s Day as a shout-out to fame and triumph; it’s a reminder that equality is not automatic. It takes awareness, inclusion, and listening to make it happen.
It’s about the women in our communities. They are the leaders and workers in the field. They keep operations running smoothly and hold families and homes together.
There’s something very powerful about women uplifting each other. When one succeeds, she helps another succeed. When one speaks out, she helps others be heard. When one believes in herself, she helps others believe in themselves, too. There’s something very powerful about that.
This year’s International Women’s Day isn’t just about our victories. It’s about celebrating real impact. Impact is neither always loud nor always bold. Impact is about mentoring that unsure person, creating environments where everyone matters, speaking out for what’s right in small but important ways, and showing empathy in situations where it’s easier to show indifference.
We celebrate the milestones we have achieved over the years in women’s rights, gender equality, and justice. As change agents, women have fought to strengthen accountability, bring new perspectives, and help disrupt collusion and fight corruption. This has brought great impact on the younger generation, giving young women and girls a chance to stand for themselves.
Concluding Remarks
